Animal Sales

Canadian Rocky Mountain Ranch is committed to the long-term genetic improvement of our herds. We select and breed the best stock that are available from within our herds as well as those of other leading producers.

Elk

We continue to select our top producing elk females to mate by artificial insemination to the best elk bulls available. Our breeding program makes extensive use of the outstanding genetics developed by Clearstone Breeding Farms, including Geronimo, Bounty and Max III. We also use other leading sires such as Acceleration, Diablo, Kiwi Renegade, Green Meadows Brutus, Golden Nugget and Smokin' Ash.

Selected quality and performance tested 2, 3 and 4 year old bulls, as well as several top prospect yearling females are available for purchase every year on a limited basis.

Caribou/Reindeer

Our reindeer foundation animals were obtained from leading producers in northern British Columbia in 1996. In 2001, we acquired two Alaskan reindeer breeding males that were born on Umniak Island, Alaska; these were imported into Alberta as weaned fawns in 1999. The reindeer on Umniak Island are a closed and isolated herd of approximately 3000 animals originally from northern Europe.
